Job Requirements of Office Assistant 2 (Utility Assistance Programs):
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience:
- Two years of responsible clerical and office assistance experience
- Competence with MS Office Suite, databases, and navigating multiple computer platforms;
- Strong customer service skills including interactions with people in crisis;
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task; and
- Able to independently self-direct work, as well as work closely with a team to reach common goals.

Office Assistant 2 (Utility Assistance Programs)
About the Position
Lane County Human Services Division's Utility Assistance Program is seeking a team member who wants to make a positive impact in our community. This program administers a variety of funds that assist low-income Lane County Residents with their household heating bills. This is a Temporary position assisting the Utility Assistance team with quality control and customer service. The Utility Assistance Program contracts with social service agencies across Lane County to deliver services and some assistance is offered directly by Lane County staff. Program staff provide support to both our partner agencies and applicants to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
Primary duties of the Office Assistant 2 position are:
Review Utility Assistance applications for completeness and accuracy, working with partners to correct errors;
Offer support to nonprofit partners in interpretation of program guidelines and offering technical expertise;
Provide phone and front desk support to the general public who are seeking services or who have questions about active applications, and;
Assist the public to complete eligibility applications for various Utility Assistance programs.
About the Division
The Human Services Division administers a range of programs that support people in Lane County communities – veterans, seniors, adults, children, youth and families – during challenges and transitions in their lives. The division helps address the root causes of poverty, hunger and homelessness through a range of prevention, intervention, stabilization and economic opportunity services.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm
