Job Requirements of Property Appraiser 1:
Training:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, agriculture, engineering or a related field.
Experience:
No experience is required.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Special Requirements:
- Designation as a Registered Appraiser as per ORS 308.010 at time of hire.
- Possession of a valid Oregon driver's license.

Property Appraiser 1
NOW HIRING: Property Appraiser 1 (Entry-Level) – Lane County Assessment & Taxation
Are you detail-oriented, curious about real estate, and ready to launch a stable and meaningful public service career? Lane County is hiring a Property Appraiser 1 to support fair and equitable property valuation for tax purposes.
As an Appraiser 1, you’ll receive training to determine the value of residential, commercial, and personal properties in accordance with Oregon law—no prior experience required!
About the Role
You’ll:
- Learn how to appraise real and personal property for tax assessment
- Gain hands-on experience while supporting a vital county function
- Work with a dedicated team in a structured and supportive environment

About the Division
The purpose of Assessment and Taxation is to appraise property, to calculate, collect and distribute taxes, and to provide related information to the public in a manner that merits the highest degree of confidence in our integrity, efficiency, and fairness. We are a broad service organization mandated by the Oregon Constitution and Oregon law and collect revenue for 85 taxing jurisdictions, including local governments, schools, and special districts that provide essential public services for the citizens of Lane County.Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.
