About the Position

Are you detail-oriented, highly organized, and ready to take on a critical role in public service? The County Administration Department is seeking a Payroll Specialist to perform complex, specialized payroll functions that keep our systems running smoothly and our employees paid accurately.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and maintaining vital payroll and fiscal records—including deferred compensation, flexible spending accounts, tax withholdings, union dues, garnishments, and more. You’ll also play a key role in coordinating data for our automated payroll system and producing essential reports that support agency-wide decision-making.

About the Division

As part of the County Administration Department, the 15 FTE in the Financial Services Division perform functions related to accounting, financial reporting, investment of funds, cash management, debt management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, and procurement. Financial Services is responsible for maintaining and reporting all Financial transactions on an accurate and timely basis and preparing Financial statements in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

Job Requirements:

Training:

  • Equivalent to an associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance or a related field.

Experience:

  • Three years of responsible payroll and accounting experience, including experience working with automated payroll systems.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Testing Requirements:

  • Successful hire will be contingent upon passing a "Basic Payroll Knowledge" test.

  • This position is subject to a criminal history background check.
