Building Inspector
Hourly wage will be dependent on qualifications - $37.00 to $43.00/hour
About the Position
This Extra Help Building Inspector position provides inspections for structural, mechanical, and plumbing installations to ensure a minimum standard of work, including use of proper materials and compliance with state building codes and County regulations.Inspectors provide technical information to owners and contractors while conducting onsite inspections of commercial, industrial and storage structures along with residential and manufactured dwellings.
Inspectors collaborate with contractors, homeowners, and other Land Management staff to provide quality customer service while enforcing codes and educating the community.
About the Building Safety Program I Land Management Division:
Lane County's Building Safety Program is housed within the Department of Public Works' Land Management Division. Its mission is to protect public health and welfare wherever hazards associated with the design, erection, repair, removal, demolition or occupancy of structures have the potential to exist within the county's jurisdiction. The Building Safety Program endeavors to fulfill this mission through the efficient, professional, and equitable administration of nationally recognized code standards and local regulations. The Program includes the Building and Electrical Code Administration and Inspection Section, as well as the Plans Review and Environmental Health/ Sub-Surface Sanitation Sections.
Schedule: Average of 10 - 20 hours per week between the hours of Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

*Extra Help employees may work up to a maximum of 520 hours per fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.
