Lane County Oregon, US (Onsite) Full-Time
$31.97 - $41.67/Hour

About the Position

Lane County Public Works is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead critical surveying work that supports safe transportation systems, public infrastructure, and community development across Lane County.

This role sits within the Engineering & Construction Services Division, a team responsible for planning, designing, and constructing transportation and public improvement projects that directly serve residents, businesses, and visitors. Within that division, the Survey Party Chief works with the County Surveyor’s Office—providing essential property, roadway, and survey data that informs public works projects and supports landowners, consultants, and partner agencies throughout the region.

As the Survey Party Chief, you will lead and participate in a wide range of survey activities—from topographic surveys and construction staking to right-of-way retracements and boundary surveys. You’ll apply both technical expertise and field leadership, operating modern survey technology while guiding a survey field crew to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety in the field.

This is a hands-on role for a seasoned survey professional who enjoys balancing fieldwork with technical analysis. You will perform survey calculations; process field data using computer-aided drafting and modeling software and conduct survey research to support County projects from planning through construction. Your work will directly contribute to public infrastructure projects that shape how people move, build, and connect across Lane County.

If you are motivated by precision, teamwork, and public service—and want your work to have a visible, lasting impact in the community—this is an opportunity to put your surveying expertise to work in local government.
